Characteristic reflection features are frequently observed in the X-ray spectra of accreting black holes. This reflected emission primarily originates from the innermost region of the accretion disk and is shaped by relativistic effects in the strong gravitational field around the black hole. In this talk, I will present our investigation of the reflection features produced when the accretion disk is illuminated by a corona offset from the black hole’s spin axis, and discuss its implications for the spectral measurements of X-ray binaries.

Speaker:

Dr. Ye-Fei Yuan is currently a Chair Professor at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). He received his PhD from the USTC Center for Astrophysics in 1999 and subsequently joined the faculty of the Department of Astronomy at USTC. His research focuses on the dynamics and emissions near black hole event horizons.
