Stars are the cornerstone of modern astronomy and astrophysics. Precise measurements and modeling of large stellar samples are of foundational importance to a broad range of astronomical fields, from Galactic archaeology to exoplanet studies. In this talk, i will demonstrate how we can utilize large-scale surveys, such as LAMOST, Gaia, and DESI, to obtain precise astrophysical properties of millions of stars, and thereby construct an up-to-date picture of the Milky Way’s formation history. I will also explore the scientific potential of next-generation survey facilities, such as ET, CSST, and Mephisto. Specifically, this talk will address two key questions: (1) what precision and accuracy can we achieve in measuring stellar parameters with current and future surveys, and what are the critical bottlenecks ahead? (2) What is the early structural formation history of the Milky Way and other galaxies in the local volume, and how will upcoming surveys advance our understanding?
